Managing Installed Mods

Viewing What's Installed

Go to Mods in your server dashboard and switch to the Installed tab. Each entry shows the mod's name, installed version, and file name.

Updating a Mod

There's no separate "update" button — installing a mod you already have replaces it:

Switch to Browse and search for the mod again
Click Install
Plex Host removes the old file (if the new download uses a different file name) and installs the latest compatible version

Reinstalling always pulls the newest file published for your loader — there's no way to pin a specific older version from the Mods page.

Removing a Mod

Go to Mods → Installed
Click the trash icon next to the mod you want to remove
Plex Host deletes the file from your server's plugins/ or mods/ directory

Removing a mod does not restart your server automatically — restart it for the removal to take effect if the mod is still loaded in memory.

Mods are tied to your server's template and loader. If your server's template doesn't support mods, or you need a different loader (for example, moving from Paper to Forge), that's a template switch from Settings → Game Configuration, not something done from the Mods page — and it reinstalls the server software.

Switching templates reinstalls your server. Back up your server first, and note that mods installed under the old template won't carry over automatically.

Troubleshooting

Server won't start after installing a mod

The mod may not actually support your Minecraft version — check its Modrinth page.
A required dependency may not have installed automatically (see Installing Mods & Plugins). Check the mod's Modrinth page for its full dependency list and install any that were skipped.
Restore a recent backup to get back to a working state, then try again.

Install or remove is not available

You need Write or Admin file access on the server to install or remove mods. Ask a server Admin to grant it, or to make the change for you.

Mod doesn't show as installed

Files added directly through the File Manager rather than the Mods page won't appear on the Installed tab — Plex Host only tracks mods it installed itself.
